SCAM ALERT- AVFR was notified this afternoon of people being called and the caller ID came up with Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue. The person answered and was then indicated they were with Master Card. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH AVFR IN ANY WAY. The scammers will try most anyway to get your money these days. AVFR does a direct mail fund drive each fall, you WILL NOT get a telephone solicitation from AVFR. Please be alert when answering the phone and things seem not right.
